What is your attitude towards rights and freedom? Should we always uphold our rights no matter what? Should we use our freedom to the fullest?
In 1 Cor 9, Paul uses himself as an example. As an apostle, Paul has many rights. He has the right to get married, the right to get financial support for the services he provides to the church. But he chooses not to use any of these rights for the purpose of causing no hindrance to the gospel of Christ.
What matters most to Paul is being able to bring a person closer to God, to win people for God. This is what dictates his actions, whether to use his right or not, it all depends on what is beneficial to a person, or to the churchās spiritual well-being.
May we learn from Paul to seek what is beneficial for others in their relationship with God and let that dictate what we do, even if it means giving up our own rights and freedom.
