🪔 Shine! (Matthew 5:14-16)

Well well well, it’s my time to shine once more in these weekly emails xD

Two weeks ago, we looked at Matthew 5:14-16, in which Jesus says,
“You are the light of the world.”

We know that here Jesus is talking to anyone who would follow Him and who has the “Be attitudes”. While most people might prefer the light, funnily enough I am one of the few that prefer the dark. Not that I don’t like it, but after having a concussion, lights have been really painful for me. During this Bible study it made me wonder have I really been a light in the places that I need to be, and have I been relying on myself or have I been relying on God’s strength.

One cool thing that I didn’t really understand before was that the basket Jesus is talking about has to do with storing grains. We tend to let life consume the time we have, or our life with God, so much so that we don’t shine that light anymore.

Another thing that stood out to me was that the light needs to have a source or fuel. The fuel here should be from God and not our own strength.

Remember, don’t make light of being a light for people to see, but be someone that can shine forth the goodness of God!
