👑 Becoming Like God (Genesis 3:22-23)

Becoming like God is often imagined to involve obtaining incredible power and knowledge. We may imagine that to become like God means to have superhuman strength, or infinite wisdom, or abilities surpassing everyone else. But the Bible looks at this matter differently.

In Genesis 3:22-23, God points out that man has become like Him in that man has made a moral decision, choosing between good and evil.

Does God not want us to become like Him? Does He not want us to choose between good and evil?

Of course He does! God made us in His image. He wants us to be like Him, that is, in choosing good over evil.

Unfortunately, we are easily tempted to choose evil instead. We want to do whatever we want, whenever we want, however we want, regardless of what God says is good for us. And in this way, we end up ruining our own lives.

So then what are we supposed to do?
