Have you heard the good news?
The book of Mark starts off with words, āThe beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.ā The word āgospelā (εį½Ī±Ī³Ī³Īλιον) means āgood newsā, but how exactly is Jesus good news?
Whether or not Jesus is good news to us depends on a number of things, as we began last week to see in our study of Mark 1:1-28. Do we see ourselves as being in a condition of needing help, being stuck in sin? Are we willing to change our way of doing things? Are we willing to accept Godās way out?
Understanding our condition and what God has to offer us are key in seeing the value of the news of Jesus. After all, of what value is a miracle drug regiment to a person with cancer unless that person understands that they have cancer, and that this treatment can cure them?
In the weeks to come, join us as we begin to explore the good news of Jesus and how that can be relevant to our everyday life.
