What do you prioritize? What do you consider to be most important?
Last week, we saw that there were often large crowds that gathered around Jesus asking for healing (Mark 1:29-45). Moved with compassion, Jesus would heal many of these people of their physical sickness.
Physical healing is good, but it is temporary. People often want to get healed so that they can go back to their old way of life. This healing would only help them temporarily because sickness can happen again, and this earthly life will end one day anyways.
For Jesus, proclaiming the gospel is his utmost priority. Even in healing, Jesus’s intention is to enable people to come under the power of God. By being healed, the goal is that people may experience deliverance, freed to draw close to God, and inspired to serve God, a new way of life.
