In Mark 11:15-33, we see three D’s that prevent us from having a relationship with God—Distraction, Draining, and Doubt.
Jesus turned everyone’s world upside down at the temple when he flipped the tables and seats of the money changers 💰 and dove sellers 🕊 and chased them out 🦵. These were taking advantage of people who wanted to meet God and distracting them by making a marketplace in the house of God.
Later, as Jesus and his disciples pass by a fig tree, they find it withered completely. This was the fig tree that Jesus had cursed earlier because it had not bore fruit despite having much leaves. 🌳 Something within the tree was draining away its resources, causing it to not be fruitful.
Finally, religious leaders question Jesus on his authority. Even though these people were supposed to be more knowledgeable 📖 about God than anyone else, we see from their discussion with Jesus that they in fact do not care about the truth. They doubt the truth, fearing man instead.
What about you?
Is something distracting you away from God? Is there something draining away the resources in your life preventing you from meeting God? Are there seeds of doubt in your heart preventing you from being committed to the truth?
