❤️ The Greatest Commandment (Mark 12:28-44)

What do you think is the greatest commandment in the Bible? Be good? Don’t do anything that hurts other people? Pray at least once a day?

Perhaps the answer is not what we would expect.

Last week, we saw how a Jewish scholar asked Jesus this question (Mark 12:28-44). Jesus answered from the Jewish scriptures:

“Hear, O Israel! The LORD our God is one Lord; and you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength,” and, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

This summarizes all of the Bible. It matters more than any and all the religious practices a person may do. Loving God and loving other people is what matters.

Perhaps you already know this. But just knowing does no good. If you know what you should do, you should do it! If you know that you should love God with your everything, and that you should love others like your own self, then do so!

If you do so, you will experience the reality and the power of God in your life. ❤️
