🌼 Spiritual Perception (Mark 14:1-11)

Have you ever noticed how one person can see something as super valuable, while someone else thinks it’s totally not worth it?

That’s because our perception, or how we see things, is shaped by our experiences, knowledge, and what’s in our hearts. šŸ‘€ā¤

In Mark 14:1-11, a woman pours out a very expensive jar of perfume on Jesus. The disciples are indignant: ā€œWhat a waste! This perfume could have been sold and the money given to the poor!ā€ But Jesus says, ā€œShe has done a beautiful thing to me.ā€

Why the difference?

This woman, Mary, who is the sister of Martha and Lazarus, was different. She often took time to listen closely to Jesus’s teaching. Perhaps she didn’t know all the details about what was coming, but she sensed her time with Jesus was limited. So, she acted. Boldly, lovingly, and at just the right moment.

She was seeing things with spiritual eyes, even when others couldn’t.

It’s not that caring for the poor was wrong—it’s good. But in that moment, what she did was better! Sometimes following Jesus means learning to tell the difference between good and better, and that takes spiritual perception.

ā€œSet your minds on things above, not on the things that are on earth.ā€ (Colossians 3:2)

I hope we can also have this kind of spiritual perception, and that God would renew our minds as we grow deeper in understanding His word. šŸ‘€šŸ“–
