šŸ”Ŗ Rejecting the Truth (MarkĀ 14:53-72)

How often have you rejected something that later turned out to be true?

In Mark 14:53-72, we saw how the chief priests and scribes were not genuinely seeking truth. They had already decided that Jesus couldn’t be the promised Messiah, that he couldn’t be the Christ. They decided that not because of clear evidence, but because of their own judgement and preconceived ideas. Whether it was his background, his teaching, his challenge to their authority, or whatever it was, Jesus didn’t match their picture of the prophesied Savior from God.

Instead of honestly examining who Jesus was, they clung to their pride and desire for control. Even as their false witnesses couldn’t agree with each other, they continued pushing for a reason to condemn Jesus. Their hearts were hardened, and their minds were closed.

This reminds us of how dangerous it is to approach God with overconfidence in our own thinking. When God challenges what we think we know, do we truly listen, or do we shut Him out?

May we stay humble and teachable. When God speaks, even through unexpected people or situations, let us not say, ā€œI already know,ā€ but instead ask, ā€œLord, what are You showing me?ā€
