🤸‍♂️ Sins are Forgiven (Mark 2:1-13)

What would you do if someone broke open a large hole in your ceiling? And then lowered down their paralyzed friend to meet you? 🏡💥😳

That’s what happened to Jesus (Mark 2:1-13).

So what did Jesus do? Did Jesus heal the paralyzed guy? Did he give the friends who made a hole a good scolding? Did he decide he needed to make a stronger roof?

No. Jesus’s first response was to tell the paralytic, “Your sins are forgiven.”

Sin is a lot like being paralyzed. While physically we may have a fully functional body, when we are in sin, we are restricted from being able to live life fully the way God intended for us. The things we know are not good for us, we have no power to overcome. The things we know are good for us, we are unable to do. Spiritually, when we are in sin, we are non-functional.

This is what Jesus wants to deal with in our lives. In the same way that Jesus had the power to give the paralyzed man a healthy body, so does he have the authority to free us from sin.

What matters then is our choice. Jesus saw the faith of these friends that came to him. What about us? Do we too have faith that Jesus can help us?
