How do you rest on your day off? 😴
We often hear our parents, friends, or even coaches tell us to “rest up,” whether it’s for an event or an exam or for the next day. That means to drop everything we were doing and to go to sleep. Physically our bodies need that rest so that we can be ready to tackle a new day and have the energy for school, playing soccer, or doing work.
Some Pharisees challenged Jesus regarding his disciples for plucking grains to eat on the Sabbath day. One of the Jewish laws for the Sabbath is that people are to not do any work at all, including plucking grains. However, Jesus responds by drawing attention to the spiritual aspects of rest on the Sabbath and its importance for us (Mark 2:23-28).
Often our minds and hearts are preoccupied with many things other than God, be it relationships 💕, games 🎮, work 💻, studies 📕, and more. However, the Sabbath day is meant for us to spend time with God. It is a day of rest from things that distract us and take us away from God. 🙏
Will we take the initiative and make some time for God?
