What is family to you?
What is your family like? Do you get along well with your parents, or with your siblings? What do you think a family should be like?
For Jesus, his family are those who do the will of God (Mark 3:13-35). If you are someone who does the will of God, then Jesus considers you to be his brother/sister.
It is difficult to find a good family in this world. Many families are rife with conflicts, bitterness, regretful history, and more. Often people try to portray their families as doing alright, while having an undesirable side they feel they must hide. Fights between siblings, unhappy marriages, parents and children mistreating each other. For some people, “family” is something to be avoided.
God however wants us to have a good family. God wants us to have a family that is harmonious, full of love, joy, and purpose. God wants us to be a part of a family that is united in spirit and able to be a blessing to many. This is the family that Jesus refers to when he talks about his family.
As we continue to follow Jesus’s life, perhaps we may begin to see the connection between doing God’s will and the family that God hopes for us to have. And perhaps it may inspire us to be a part of this family also. 🤗
