Hope you’re having a great reading week!
Last week we looked at a parable that Jesus used, the Parable of the Sower and Soils (Mark 4:1-25). Do you wonder what the seed or the soils represent?
This parable dives into how we respond to God’s word. The seed represents the word of God and the soil represents our heart. If your heart is solid ground, you are quick to grow but turn away when facing challenges. If your heart has thorns, you will be bound up by worries of the world. The seeds planted in good soil grow at different rates, they grow and stay strong.
If you are worried about having bad soil for a heart, fear not! Your heart can be turned into good soil as well. Come to God and ask him to renew your heart so that his word can grow and be fruitful. This is what we should be striving for. Do not be discouraged, but be encouraged that our hearts can always become good soil. Take heed though that the opposite is also true, your heart which is good soil can become bad soil.
Let’s pro-‘seed’ with renewing our hearts to good soil, so that our hearts can be fruitful with God’s word and be transformed by it! 🌱
