What crises have you faced in your life? How do you react when facing crises?
Last week, Jesus’s disciples faced a crisis in their life when a fierce storm suddenly arose on the sea and threatened their life (Mark 4:35-41). Fortunately, Jesus was also on the boat with them and was able to calm the storm.
People often question why God allows crisis to happen, or even why He allows it to happen to those who follow Him.
God allows crisis to happen to test whether we fully trust God as revealed through how we react to crisis. One reaction could be blaming God, while another could be fully trusting that God is in control, that he has a reason for everything, and thus there is nothing to be afraid of.
It is precisely those who follow God that will be faced with many resistances and challenges because the enemy wants to stop them from doing God’s work. God allows these challenges to happen so that we can be on the alert and to depend on him to overcome the challenges. Each time we overcome through God’s help, the more our faith in God gets strengthened until one day we surely and fully trust that indeed God has a plan for everything.
