😰 Herod’s Rage and Jesus’s Escape (Matthew 2:13-23)

I hope your week has been going well and that you’re staying warm and healthy!

Last week we looked at Matthew 2:13-23, and one question kept coming to my mind: How am I taking care of what God has entrusted to me?

The contrast between King Herod and Joseph really highlighted this question for me. Both were given responsibilities—Herod with governing the region of Judea, and Joseph with Mary and baby Jesus. But while Herod treated everything as his own and acted however he wanted, Joseph chose to follow God’s way, even when it was difficult. He cared for Jesus faithfully because he knew that that responsibility came from God.

Thinking about this helped me see how easy it is for me to treat my time, my work, or my family as if they belong only to me. But this passage reminded me that everything actually belongs to God. My role is to care for what He’s given me according to His way, not my own way.

And that gives me comfort—if God gives me responsibilities, He will also give me the strength and wisdom to carry them out.

I hope this encourages you also as you think about what God has entrusted to you this week, and to trust that He will give you the strength and wisdom to take care of it.
