📢 Call to Repent (Matthew 3:1-17)

Last week we looked at Matthew 3:1-17, which showed us John the Baptist and the baptism of Jesus. The passage talked about repentance. But why is repentance important?

Recently I have been reflecting on how my walk with God has been. A chord was struck for me when Pam brought up the fact that we need to have a willingness to pursue. While I do have that willingness, I do realize it is very easy for me to think that I know everything about a certain situation, while not understanding that I have to come to God in humility.

When we become very knowledgeable, it’s easy to be blinded by pride. But if you strip away these thoughts, wanting to grow, and realize that even with the basics there is still something to learn, you will want to be with someone that can teach you everything.

So why is this so important?

Well for me, it is the fact that when we are blind to this, we don’t fully repent. Repentance is a “change of mind”. There are things that I may have thought were fine at one point, but now that I look back, I don’t want to go back to. I am thankful that I have repented from these things, that I am building a relationship with God, and that I have that peace from Him that He is there with me in every situation.
