Growing up, I often struggled with understanding Jesusās sayings.
Why is it good to be poor? Why should I love those who hurt me? How is it possible to keep forgiving someone who keeps doing wrong to me?
In Matthew 4:12-25, Jesus begins his ministry with the word μεĻανοĪĻ, usually translated as ārepentā, but which literally means āto change oneās mindā.
I donāt like to love people who donāt love me back. My thought is that what I have is limited, suffering should be avoided, and that if I am too generous, I will lose everything.
But Jesus thinks differently.
And as Iāve started to follow him, Iāve begun to understand where heās coming from, and how God can really transform my life when I learn to see things the way Jesus sees.
I hope you can join on this journey!
