When life gets busy and exams and assignments start piling up, I find myself craving fried chicken, hotpot, late-night cup noodles, bubble tea… and more. 🤤
These foods bring me joy! But have you ever wondered what kind of food your spirit needs?
In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus teaches us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11)
Wait… bread? 🍞 Why does Jesus teach us to ask our heavenly Father for bread every day?
In last week’s Bible study, we explored how bread can remind us of our spiritual needs. Just as our bodies need food every day, our spirits need nourishment too.
God’s Word is like food for our spirits. But imagine taking a bite of your favourite food, chewing it, and then spitting it out. That would be a waste! 😭
Similarly, God’s Word is not just something to read and know. It is meant to be taken in, become part of us, and shape how we live.
But how does that happen, you might ask?
Well, in John 4:34, Jesus says, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me…”
So it’s not just about knowing God’s Word, but also putting it into action!
Just as food satisfies our hunger, doing God’s will can bring a deeper kind of satisfaction, giving our lives meaning and purpose beyond simply fulfilling our own desires.
So next time we pray for our daily bread, perhaps we can also ask God: What do You want to teach me today? And how can I live it out?
